The years 1897 to 1940 are chronicled in the latest installment of "The African Americans: Many Rivers to Cross" (PBS at 8 p.m.). The migration of African Americans from the South to the North and West, the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920s and racial violence are recalled, along with leaders such as Ida B. Wells, W.E.B. Du Bois, Booker T. Washington and Marcus Garvey.
